Three Tiers of Protection

Choose a level for each app based on how much you want to limit it. From a gentle check-in to a complete fast.

💜

Tier 1 — Lightest

Gut Check

A gentle affirmation before you open the app. No tracking, no blocking — just a moment to pause and ask yourself if this is what you really want to do right now. Tap continue to proceed.

Tier 2 — Moderate

Light Fast

An intervention that asks "Do you really need this app right now?" Tracked so you can see your patterns. Choose to bypass or walk away — both outcomes are recorded in your stats.

🛑

Tier 3 — Full Commitment

Full Fast

A complete block using iOS Screen Time. The app is fully shielded — no way to open it. For apps you know you need a total break from. This is the real fast.

Thoughtfully designed features to help you build a healthier relationship with your phone.

🎯

Per-App Control

Set different tiers for different apps. Social media on Full Fast, email on Light Fast — you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers.

App Fast uses Apple's official Screen Time API (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks) to place shield overlays on selected apps. This is the same technology that powers Apple's own Screen Time feature, providing genuine OS-level protection rather than just notifications or reminders.
It depends on the tier you've set. Gut Check and Light Fast tiers allow you to choose to proceed into the app after a moment of reflection. Full Fast is a complete block with no bypass option — that's the point. If you need emergency access, you can adjust the tier in the App Fast settings at any time.
No. App Fast only knows which apps you've selected to manage and whether you chose to open or avoid them. It cannot see any content within your apps, read your messages, view your browsing history, or access any personal data. All processing happens on your device — nothing is sent to external servers.
No. App Fast is designed for individuals who want to manage their own screen time. It's a personal device usage management tool with a faith-based approach. You set your own limits, choose your own tiers, and manage your own fasting journey. There is no remote management or monitoring of other people's devices.
Gut Check (Tier 1) shows a brief affirmation and lets you continue — it's a gentle nudge. Light Fast (Tier 2) presents an intervention screen asking if you really need the app, tracking your choice. Full Fast (Tier 3) completely blocks the app with no bypass option. You can assign different tiers to different apps based on how much you want to limit each one.
Yes. All blocking and shield functionality works entirely on-device through Apple's Screen Time API. No internet connection is required for the core app-blocking features. Your stats and settings are also stored locally on your device.
Notification behaviour may vary. The shield prevents you from opening the app, but notifications from shielded apps may still appear depending on your iOS notification settings. We recommend adjusting notification settings in iOS Settings for any apps on Full Fast if you want a complete break from them.
Just like a food fast is a voluntary, intentional choice to abstain, a tech fast is a voluntary choice to step away from certain apps or phone usage. It's about intentional disconnection — choosing to be present and focused rather than scrolling. The spiritual dimension is there if you want it, but the app works for anyone seeking more screen discipline.
App Fast is free for TestFlight users today, and will launch on the App Store shortly. Pricing details will be shared ahead of the App Store release. Our goal is to keep the core blocking features accessible to everyone.
App Fast is available now through Apple TestFlight while we finalise the App Store release. Email us and we'll send you an invite link. Your feedback helps us sharpen the app before it goes public.
